The Storyteller
Vanessa has always understood that a story can do what an explanation sometimes cannot. It can make us laugh, make us uncomfortable, help us recognize ourselves, or finally give language to something we have known but never said aloud.
She brings that instinct to her speaking, using personal stories, observation, humor, and reflection to make ideas human and conversations memorable. She doesn’t tell stories simply to entertain. She tells them because sometimes a story is the shortest distance between what we hear and what we finally understand.
Preaching & Faith
Faith & Fire
Vanessa’s preaching begins with the text, but it does not stay safely on the page. She brings Scripture into conversation with the lives people are actually living. Her sermons keep returning to the question: What does the Word require of us here and now, even when the answer is uncomfortable?
Her preaching is grounded in faith, shaped by story, and willing to lovingly ruffle a few feathers. She believes the pulpit should offer hope and comfort, but still challenge us to examine what we believe, how we live, and what God may be calling us to do differently.
Teaching & Conversation
In Conversation
Vanessa approaches teaching as a conversation, not a lecture. She creates room for questions, laughter, disagreement, discovery, and those moments when someone suddenly sees an idea, or themselves, differently.
Whether leading a workshop, facilitating a Bible study, teaching kids about faith, or gathering people around a new or difficult subject, she doesn’t believe her job is simply to give people answers. Good teaching should make people curious enough to ask better questions, and confident enough to join the conversation.
